Yamada Kodai (山田晃大) is a Japanese singer and performer. He is a member of the group LIL LEAGUE from EXILE TRIBE.
He passed the first chapter of the iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ audition as one of 6 members of LIL LEAGUE, a team that was formed during the audition.
Early Life[]
Yamada Kodai was born on August 10, 2005 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Influenced by his parents, he watched the performances of Michael Jackson as a child, which made him fall in love with dancing.[1]
In his childhood, he started attending EXPG Fukuoka.[2][3] He also took part in various dance contests.[4]
Career[]
2021-2022[]
In early 2021, he took part in EXPG's nationwide contest GRAND SHOWDOWN as a representative of the Fukuoka school.
In March 2021, he formed the EXPG TikTok team "MTC" (Moxie Tight Clan) together with other students from EXPG Fukuoka, including Nakamura Tatsuhiro.
In June 2021, he was introduced as a student of EXPG Lab.[5][6]
From 2021 to 2022, he participated in the boys division of the audition iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ and was selected as a member of the team LIL LEAGUE during the screening process. LIL LEAGUE made it to the final screening on May 21, 2022, where they were ultimately chosen as the winning group of the audition.[7][8][9]
2023[]
On January 11, Yamada made his major debut as a member of LIL LEAGUE with the release of the group's first single "Hunter".[10][11]
2024[]
On March 29, he graduated from EXPG High School.[12][13]

On July 28, 2022, it was announced that Yamada had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and would carefully follow the instructions of the public health center and experts for a healthy recovery.[14]

- His goal is to become a three-skilled artist who can sing, rap, and dance.[15] He would also like to work as an actor and become a multi-instrumentalist.[1]
- According to himself, his weak point is that he is a pretty outspoken person, but he slips up and before he knows it, he turns into a silly character.[15]
- Described as a person who is comforting, kind-hearted and easily cries.[16]
- According to himself, he is good at listening to others and often asked for advice.[17]
- According to his fellow members, he is the smartest member of LIL LEAGUE, teaches them a lot of trivia and many other things and speaks English quite well.[18]
- Likes drawing blueprints and pictures for the set and stage of live shows. He would like to do a horror-themed live show with LIL LEAGUE in the future.[1]
- Has a notebook in which he keeps a record of the stages he wants to perform on. He draws inspiration from various places, such as his daily life, movies, and the stages he has been to, so he would like to create a live performance that can fulfill these inspirations.[19]
- Has been friends with Nakamura Tatsuhiro since their days at EXPG Fukuoka.[15]
- Likes to watch movies at home on his days off. He watches a variety of genres, but his favorite is foreign romance movies, such as Titanic and Romeo + Juliet.[17][1]
- Likes going to and reading at cafes in his free time.[20]
- Can do acrobatics, such as backflips.[21]
- Likes to play golf. His father taught him how to play when he was 5 years old.[1]
- Wants to learn playing an instrument and be involved in dramas, movies and variety shows in the future.[17]
- Admires Sato Taiki, and fans also often tell them they look alike.[1] He also admires Michael Jackson.
- He once received three cardboard boxes of clothes from Sato Taiki, which changed his fashion style.[22]
- His favorite food is gyoza.[17]
- His least favorite food is seafood in general, especially Shishamo.[17]
- He started dancing at the age of 5.
