Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE (三代目 J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE; J SOUL BROTHERS Third Generation; official English: J SOUL BROTHERS III from EXILE TRIBE) is a Japanese dance & vocal boy group formed and managed by LDH JAPAN and signed to the record label rhythm zone.

Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS is the third generation of the original J Soul Brothers, part of the collective supergroup EXILE TRIBE and composed of 7 members: 2 vocalists and 5 performers. The group was formed in 2010 with two EXILE members, the two winners of the VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 2 and three dancers.

They made their major debut on November 10, 2010 with the single "Best Friend's Girl".

2010-2013[]

The hiatus since the migration of Nidaime to EXILE did not last as long as it was announced on the TV show Shuukan EXILE . On July 2010 new members were going to be once more added to J Soul Brothers. The new members added to the group's third generation were EXILE Presents VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 2 ~Yume wo Motta Wakamono Tachi e~ winners Imaichi Ryuji and Tosaka Hiroomi as vocalists and ELLY, Yamashita Kenjiro, and Iwata Takanori as performers. Second generation members NAOTO, and NAOKI were re-added as leaders of the performers. The other five former members of Nidaime JSB were later added to EXILE's unit THE SECOND from EXILE.

The new generation, known as Sandaime J Soul Brothers, released their first single, entitled "Best Friend's Girl", on November 10, 2010. Their self-titled debut album J Soul Brothers, released in 2011, also peaked at number three. In 2013, they achieved their first number-one record with their third album MIRACLE.

2014-2015[]

On April 27, 2014, member Iwata Takanori joined EXILE after winning the EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION. He's the third member from the group, alongside NAOTO and Kobayashi Naoki, added to EXILE.

On June 24, 2014, the group released their thirteenth single "R.Y.U.S.E.I.", which won several awards for the group, such as the Japan Record Award, the highest honor at the 56th Japan Record Awards and the 47th Japan Cable Awards.

On January 28, 2015, the group released their fifth album PLANET SEVEN, which peaked at #1 on Oricon's weekly chart and sold 508,000 copies in its first week. Like "R.Y.U.S.E.I.", the album also was very well received and it was featured on Apple Music Best of 2015.[1]

On December 30, 2015, the group won their third Japan Record Award with the song "Unfair World".

2016-2017[]

On March 30, 2016, the group released their sixth studio album THE JSB LEGACY.

On October 1, 2016, the group announced their upcoming tour Sandaime J Soul Brothers LIVE TOUR 2016-2017 "METROPOLIZ", alongside the new single "Welcome to TOKYO", released on November 9.

On February 3, 2017, the group announced their second best album THE JSB WORLD, released on March 29.

On September 16, the group started their fifth tour Sandaime J Soul Brothers LIVE TOUR 2017 "UNKNOWN METROPOLIZ", which went until December 17.

On December 13, the group released their 22nd single "J.S.B. HAPPINESS" and the DVD/Blu-ray footage of the Sandaime J Soul Brothers LIVE TOUR 2016-2017 "METROPOLIZ" tour.

On December 17, 2017, the group announced on the last concert of the UNKNOWN METROPOLIZ tour that they would release a new studio album in summer 2018. It was also announced Imaichi Ryuji's solo project, Tosaka Hiroomi's first solo album and CRAZYBOY's third solo digital EP for 2018.

2018[]

On June 6, the group released the studio album FUTURE. The album was a joint release of the group's seventh album, as well Tosaka and Imaichi's solo albums.

2019[]

On January 1, it was announced that the group's name was changed to Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE. It was also announced that the group will release three new singles that will follow the new logo of the group. The new logo consists of the group's abbreviated name (JSB) with the number 3 (represented by the roman number Ⅲ) in three colors: blue, white and red in a flag format. The first single (23rd single), "Yes we are", was released on March 13 representing the color blue.

From April 24 to November 17, the group held their 6th live tour Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2019 "RAISE THE FLAG".

On August 7, the group released their 24th single "SCARLET". The single is the second of the RAISE THE FLAG project, representing the color red.

On September 19, they released the digital single "Rat-tat-tat".

On December 11, the group released their 25th single "Fuyuzora / White Wings". The single is the third and last of the RAISE THE FLAG project, representing the color white.

On December 25, the group announced a project for their 10th anniversary in 2020. With the project, it was announced the release of their 8th studio album, which completes the RAISE THE FLAG project, scheduled to be released sometime in spring; the release of their third best album, and their new dome tour Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS PERFECT LIVE 2010▶2020.[2][3]

2020[]

On March 18, the group released their 8th album RAISE THE FLAG. The album include a footage of the Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2019 "RAISE THE FLAG" in its DVD/Blu-ray editions.

On April 8, the group released their 26th single "Movin' on".

On August 3, the group released the digital single "starting over ~one world~". The song is a new version of their 2015 song "starting over".

On November 10, the group held the live concert LIVE×ONLINE INFINITY Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS 10th ANNIVERSARY ~JSB HISTORY~, which celebrated the group's 10th anniversary since debut. The group also released the song "RISING SOUL" digitally as a pre-release of EXILE TRIBE's 4th single "RISING SUN TO THE WORLD", scheduled to be released on January 1, 2021. In the same day, it was also announced that the best album scheduled to be released this year was postponed to 2021.[4]

2021[]

In March, the group released a box collection of all their singles and albums released up to "Movin' on" and RAISE THE FLAG in KIT format for fanclub members.[5]

On June 16, they released their 27th single "100 SEASONS / TONIGHT".

On July 16, they released "JSB IN BLACK" which is the kickoff song for their live tour "THIS IS JSB" ahead of the release of their 28th single of the same title on October 20.[6]

On July 31, during a TikTok live talk, they unveiled a snippet of their new song called "Senko Hanabi" which was pre-released on the platform at midnight on August 10.[7]

On November 10, the group released BEST BROTHERS / THIS IS JSB, which is the joint release of their 3rd best album and 9th studio album.

On December 22, the group released the footage of the Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2021 "THIS IS JSB" on DVD/Blu-ray.

2022[]

On July 12, it was announced that the group would provide the theme song for the movie Sadako DX, titled "REPLAY".[8][9][10][11][12] The song was later released as digital single on October 7.

On November 1, the group's official fanclub Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS OFFICIAL FAN CLUB ~MATE~ was opened.[13]

On September 8, it was announced that the members would be holding a special live broadcast on November 10 through the platforms CL and YouTube to report the future activities of the group in 2023 and their comeback.[14][15][16][17] During the live press conference, it was announced that the group would embark on their 3rd arena tour and 8th tour overall titled Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2023 "STARS" ~Land of Promise~, release their 29th single "STARS" on February 1, 2023 and release their first live film titled JSB3 LIVE FILM / RISING SOUND, a special remix of the LIVE×ONLINE live streaming live performances held in 2020, on January 6 at Dolby Cinema and on January 13, 2023 throughout Japan.[18][19][20][21][22][23][24] Additionally, an official light stick for the group was revealed.[25]

2023[]

The group released their first live film JSB3 LIVE FILM / RISING SOUND on January 6 at Dolby Cinema and on January 13, 2023 throughout Japan.

On February 1, Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS released their 29th single "STARS".

From February 18 to September 24, the group held their 8th live tour Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2023 "STARS" ~Land of Promise~.

On May 29, they released the digital single "Hand in Hand".[26]

On November 10, they held the fanclub event Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS OFFICIAL FAN CLUB presents JSB3 13th ANNIVERSARY PARTY at EX THEATER ROPPONGI.[27][28][29] During the event, it was announced that the group will release their 10th album Land of Promise on March 27, 2024.[30][31][32]

On November 11, they released the digital single "Awakening Light".[33][31]

From November 18 to December 23, the group held their their sixth dome tour (9th tour overall) Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS PRESENTS "JSB LAND".[34][35]

On December 26, they held the fanclub event Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS PRESENTS "JSB LAND" ~AFTER PARTY~ at Kyocera Dome Osaka.[36][31]

2024[]

On March 27, Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS released their tenth studio album Land of Promise.

On July 4, it was announced that the members would be holding a special live broadcast on July 6 through the platforms CL and YouTube to report the future activities of the group in 2023 and their comeback.[37] During the live press conference, it was announced that the group would embark on their previously announced 7th dome tour and 10th tour overall now titled Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2024 "ECHOES OF DUALITY" and release their 11th album ECHOES of DUALITY around Autumn.[38]

On July 6, they released the digital single "BLAZE".[39]

On September 25, they released the digital single "Baby don't cry".[40]

On November 13, Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS will release their eleventh studio album ECHOES of DUALITY.[41]

From November 16 to December 22, the group will hold their their seventh dome tour (10th tour overall) Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS LIVE TOUR 2024 "ECHOES OF DUALITY".[42]

  • Since the release of the single "SPARK" in 2013, it was added "from EXILE TRIBE" under Sandaime's group name and releases.
  • The group launched its own fashion brand titled J.S.B. in 2015.[64]
  • The official fandom name of the group is "MATE", deriving from "SOUL MATE" (since the group's name includes "SOUL BROTHERS").[66][18] The term was first used by the group and its members in December 2018.
    • With the reveal of the group's official light stick on November 10, 2022, it was announced that the official symbol of the fandom is a white rose.[25]
  • On December 27, 2019, avex revealed the top 5 artists with the highest number of views in total on their YouTube channel. On this list, Sandaime took the 2nd spot with a total number of about 760 million views.[67]
  • Their song "RAISE THE FLAG" was performed as an evaluation song on Produce 101 Japan in 2019.
  • Japanese badminton player and bronze medalist (2020 Tokyo Olympics, mixed doubles) Higashino Arisa is a huge fan of the group and states Tosaka Hiroomi's "HEART of GOLD" as her favorite song.[68]
  • The first performance on MUSIC STATION, a Japanese music television program airing since October 24, 1986, that was released on the program's official Youtube channel, was the group's performance of "Senko Hanabi" on September 24, 2021.
