ROAD TO HiGH&LOW is the first movie of the HiGH&LOW franchise featuring the EXILE TRIBE. It is a prequel to HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE and had a limited screening release on May 7, 2016 for two weeks in about 150 theaters in Japan.
The movie is a compilation/reconstruction of Season 1 of the TV drama HiGH&LOW ~THE STORY OF S.W.O.R.D.~ from the viewpoints of Cobra, Yamato, and Noboru, and also includes unaired scenes from the drama and HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE.[1][2][3][4]
The prequel was later included on the luxury edition of the DVD/Blu-ray release of HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE.[5][6]
Description[]
Cobra, Yamato and Noboru have been best friends since childhood. Noboru, who is smart and went to college, is the hope of Cobra and Yamato, whose only merit is fighting. Suddenly, tragedy strikes Noboru. Having lost their future, Cobra and Yamato form the "Sannoh Rengokai" as a place for Noboru to return to. "Sannoh Rengokai", "White Rascals", "Oya High School", "RUDE BOYS", and "Daruma Ikka"; the five delinquent gangs compete against each other, and the district becomes known as the "SWORD" district after the initials of each of them. The balance is just barely maintained, but when Noboru returns to the district, an incident begins. Noboru, who has put his past behind him, becomes a member of the "Iemura-kai" which plans to take control of the SWORD district. He presses the Sannoh Rengokai to join him. What is the secret behind Noboru's actions? And what is the shocking decision made by Cobra and Yamato?
