LIL LEAGUE from EXILE TRIBE (リル リーグ) is a Japanese dance & vocal boy group formed and managed by LDH JAPAN and signed to the record label rhythm zone.

LIL LEAGUE is part of the collective supergroups EXILE TRIBE and NEO EXILE, and composed of 6 members who are all holding microphones while performing. The group was formed through the male division of the iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ audition from 2021 to 2022. They won the grand prix at the final screening of the first chapter of the audition held at Nippon Budokan on May 21, 2022.[1]

They made their major debut on January 11, 2023 with the single "Hunter".[2]

2022[]

The group was formed in early 2022 during the third screening of the iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ audition as one of the four teams, including the contestants Iwaki Sena, Yamada Kodai, Momoda Haima, Nanba Sora, Okao Matora, Nakamura Tatsuhiro and Nishiguchi Sora.

On April 25, the group released the digital single "Rollah Coaster", their concept song for the audition.

A few days prior to the final screening of the male division of the iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ audition, it was announced that Nishiguchi Sora had violated the rules of the audition and that after assessing the situation, he would not be allowed to participate in the final screening and, therefore, be removed from the group.[3]

On May 21, the group won the grand prix at the final screening of the audition held at Nippon Budokan, granting them a debut in the future.[1][4][5][6]

On October 9, the group's first TV program titled LIL LEAGUE no Victor League! started airing on TV Tokyo.[7]

On October 24, it was announced that the group would be making their official debut on January 11, 2023 with their first single.[8] On the same day, a re-recorded version of "Rollah Coaster" was released digitally.[2]

Starting on November 20, the group held a series of free live events titled LIL LEAGUE Musha Shugyo ~LIL CARAVAN~ (LIL LEAGUE 武者修行 ~LIL CARAVAN~).[9]

On November 28, it was revealed that their debut single would be titled "Hunter".[10]

2023[]

On January 11, LIL LEAGUE made their official debut with the single "Hunter", joining the EXILE TRIBE.[11][12] On the same day, the group's official fan club was opened.[13]

On January 18, the group's special program LIL LEAGUE no LIL TALK was broadcast on Space Shower TV.[14]

On March 28, the group did a dance collaboration with the YouTube channel Pinkfong Japan titled "LIL LEAGUE x BABY SHARK EDM" for an EDM version of the campfire song "Baby Shark".[15]

On March 31, the documentary program LIL LEAGUE JOURNEY was released on Amazon Prime Video, following the last day spent by the members in their hometowns as they move to Tokyo for their debut.

On March 30, April 1 and April 14, they held their first fanclub events titled LIL LEAGUE FAN EVENT 2023 -LIL SMILE-.[16]

On July 26, they released their second single overall and first double A-side single "Higher / Monster".

From July 25 to August 26, the group held their first live tour titled LIL LEAGUE LIVE TOUR 2023 "LIL GATEWAY".[17][18]

On October 18, they released their second digital single "HYPE UP".[19]

On November 3, the group released their third digital single "15-fun".

On December 2, they performed at a 2-day live event titled "D.U.N.K. Showcase in KYOCERA DOME OSAKA", which is part of SKY-HI×NTV's large-scale music project D.U.N.K. -DANCE UNIVERSE NEVER KILLED-.[20][21]

In December, LIL LEAGUE collaborated with the apparel brand atmos pink on the release of a clothing collection.[22][23][24]

At the end of the year, they received the "Upcoming Dance & Vocal Group" award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan and the "New Artists Of The Year" award at the 65th Japan Record Awards.[25][26]

2024[]

On February 4, they held the fanclub event LIL LEAGUE OFFICIAL FAN CLUB EVENT "LIL PARTY ~1-nenkan de Sukoshi Otona ni Nareta~".[27]

On February 28, the group released their first album, TRICKSTER.[28][29][30]

On March 2, it was announced that LIL LEAGUE's new song "HEAVY GAMER" had been selected as the ending theme for the TV anime "Shadowverse F" Arc Edition which would start airing in April, with the song released on April 15.[31][32]

On May 3, they performed as an opening act at the live event "BEAT AX Vol.3", its main line-up featuring THE RAMPAGE, BALLISTIK BOYZ and PSYCHIC FEVER.[33]

On May 8, LIL LEAGUE released the digital single "Beat Loud".[34]

On May 11, May 25, May 27 and July 21, the group performed at the collaborative live event series NEXT VIRAL ARTIST.[35]

On July 8, they released the song "The Walk" digitally. The song will be used as theme song for the TV anime Bonobono.[36]

On July 31, they released their third single "Youth Spark".[37]

From December 21 to January 30, 2025, the group held their second live tour titled LIL LEAGUE LIVE TOUR 2024-2025 "LIaL PARTY".[38][39]

2025[]

On January 8, they released their fourth single "Shigeki Saiyuusen".[40]

  • They are currently the youngest group to debut as part of EXILE TRIBE, with all members being younger than PSYCHIC FEVER member WEESA, who was the youngest member of the collective prior to their debut.
  • EXILE SHOKICHI is described as the "foster father" of the group.[16]
  • The members of the group have been living together in a dormitory since pre-debut.[48][49][50]
