Iwaya Shogo (岩谷翔吾) is a Japanese performer, actor and writer. He is a member of the group THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE.

He is also a member of the Hip-Hop dance crew "J.S.B. underground".

He participated in the EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION but didn't make to the finals. Prior to his audition, he was part of the EXPG trainee team EXILE GENERATIONS and a support member of GENERATIONS.

Early Life

Iwaya Shogo was born on March 11, 1997, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He has a younger sister.

In his childhood, he often had to change schools all the way from kindergarten to high school as his parents were transferees.

Iwaya started dancing out of admiration for EXILE after watching them perform during the EXILE LIVE TOUR 2007 EXILE EVOLUTION at Osaka Castle Hall in 2007. Subsequently, he entered EXPG Osaka in his 5th grade of elementary school. Even though he had no prior experience in dance, he dreamed of becoming an artist like EXILE and as he continued taking lessons, he got more and more absorbed in dancing. In 2008, he appeared as a kid dancer in the music videos of EXILE's "Choo Choo TRAIN" and "Ginga Tetsudou 999".

Career

2011-2014

In 2011, he became a member of the trainee group EXILE GENERATIONS as a scholarship student of EXPG and started activities as a support member for GENERATIONS. As a result, he was able to appear in several of the group's music videos and live performances.

Around that time in his teens, he moved to Tokyo and continued his education at Hiji High School in Meguro. In early 2014, he participated in the EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION but didn't make it to the finals. In April 2014, he was selected as a candidate for the upcoming EXILE TRIBE group THE RAMPAGE. After completing the group's musha shugyo, Iwaya went from being a candidate to an official member on September 12 in the same year.

2017

On January 25, he made his major debut in THE RAMPAGE with the group's first single "Lightning".

2016

In 2016, Iwaya made his on-screen acting debut playing the role of "Ken" in HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE.

2021

In February, he started his first digital serialization titled "Iwaya Bunko ~Kimi to, Yomitai Hon ga Aru~" on Shueisha's web magazine Cobalt, publishing book reviews in which he talks about the best books he recommends to Cobalt readers and fans.

2023

From August 19, his first digital serialization started being published in Shueisha's reading magazine Seishun to Yomiuri with the September issue, being scheduled to run for a total of 12 issues.

Health

On January 7, 2021, it was announced that Iwaya had been diagnosed with COVID-19. The PCR test results had turned out positive the day before when he underwent regular inspections, however he was asymptomatic and had no fever.
