Muto Takashi (武藤隆志), better known by his stage name GS, is a Japanese rapper and producer managed by LDH JAPAN. He is a member of the group DOBERMAN INFINITY.
Early Life[]
Muto Takashi was born on June 12, 1979 in Nara Prefecture, Japan.
In the second grade of elementary school, he started playing baseball, which led him to aspire to become a professional baseball player in his youth.[1] "It was a vague dream, though, and I'm not sure if I really wanted to be one."[2]
He first enountered Hip-Hop in the first year of high school when he was skateboarding with KUBO-C, P-CHO and other local kids. While using music as an entrance, he gradually became interested in the roots, culture, and fashion of Hip-Hop.[1][3]
Career[]
In 1998, he started his music career as a member of WEST HEAD (KUBO-C, GS, P-CHO) in his hometown Nara, and in 2000, he formed DOBERMAN INC with MAB from Shiga Prefecture and Tomogen from Hyogo Prefecture.[1] Afterwards, the group was active as underground rookies: "We were still amateurs at that time, so our main life was to work part-time to make ends meet, and we would take days off on the days we performed."[1][3], "But I never thought it was too hard, it was normal in those days. I was pressed for time, but the excitement of making music and releasing a CD was more than enough."[3]
On April 21, 2004, he made his major-label debut under Victor Entertainment as a member of DOBERMAN INC. While he was happy to make his long-awaited major label debut, he also realized how difficult it was to make a living from music, as he could not quit his part-time job even after reaching this goal. This experience drove GS to pursue his dream of making a living from music alone.[1] "At that time, I was doing music while working part-time, and at the same time I felt the difficulty and fascination of making a living from music. [...]. That's when I started thinking that it would be great if I could just focus on music."[2]
