Elliot Rosado Koya (エリオット・ロシャード・昂矢), better known by his stage name ELLY, is a Japanese performer, rapper and actor. He is a member of the group Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE. He joined the group after being selected as a member of GEKIDAN EXILE only three months earlier.

ELLY made his official debut as a soloist with the mini album NEOTOKYO EP in February 2017 under the stage name CRAZYBOY. Prior to his solo debut, he had occasionally performed as a rapper for features on other artists' releases. As of June 2019, he goes by the stage name CrazyBoy for his solo activities.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Elliot Rosado Koya was born on September 21, 1987 in Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. His father is the American and former OPBF Super Welterweight champion Carlos Elliott and his mother is Japanese. He is the oldest brother of THE RAMPAGE member LIKIYA.

When he was a junior high school student, he started to practice dancing at his own since he watched a dance video of American group B2K. He is a Aomori Kenritsu Misawa High School graduate. While being on Tokyo University of Agriculture, he was part of the University Baseball Club. He wanted to be a professional baseball player, but was influenced by the dance team BASE HEADS at a club in Shibuya, and later dropped out of the university to focus on being a dancer.

2007[]

In July, he formed the dance team THE TEAM appearing in club and dance events.

2010[]

In 2010, he was scouted from EXPG and joining the GEKIDAN EXILE's stage play NIGHT BALLET.

In April, he officially joined GEKIDAN EXILE as a member and his stage name became ELLY.

On July 19, he was selected to join Sandaime J Soul Brothers as a performer being concurrent with his position on GEKIDAN EXILE.

2011[]

On July 19, ELLY withdrew from GEKIDAN EXILE.

2014[]

In 2014, he started to work as a rapper with his first work being EXILE SHOKICHI's song "THE ANTHEM".

2015[]

In 2015, ELLY started to credit his works as a rapper with the stage name CRAZYBOY.

2017[]

On February 24, he made solo debut under the stage name CRAZYBOY with the release of the digital mini-album NEOTOKYO EP.

2019[]

On June 22, it was announced that ELLY has migrated labels from rhythm zone to LDH MUSIC for his solo activities. It was also announced that the spelling of his stage name, "CRAZYBOY", was changed to "CrazyBoy".

On August 23, CrazyBoy released his first digital single "PINK DIAMOND".

On September 21, on the same day of his 32nd birthday, CrazyBoy released his second digital single "PINK DIAMOND Part2".

On November 13, CrazyBoy released his first CD single "DONNA???".

2020[]

On October 7, he released the collaboration single with EXILE SHOKICHI titled "KING&KING".

2021[]

On February 24, he released the songs "OH" and "Amnesia" as his second CD single. Despite being released separately, both songs are counted as his second single.

On February 28, he held an online live concert for free on his YouTube channel, titled CrazyBoy 1st ONLINE LIVE "NEOTOKYO festival".[1]

2022[]

On January 21, he released his first digital album titled HIP LIFE:POP LIFE.[2][3][4]

From August 23 to August 30, CrazyBoy will hold a live concert titled NEOTOKYO presents ~SUMMER ISLAND 2022~, including the special unit KING & KING and several of CrazyBoy's friends as special guests.[5] Prior to the live, he released his fifth digital mini-album NEOTOKYO Ⅴ EP on July 29 featuring two new songs and two remixes.[6][7][8][9]

2024[]

On April 27, CrazyBoy will release his third digital single "CHEDDAR".[10][11]

Personal Life[]

Family

In an interview in November 2019, ELLY revealed that he had the desire to get married and would like to have three children as he is one of three siblings himself. He also revealed that he hopes to be able to finish work by the time he is 50, earn enough money to provide for his family for the rest of his life, and then spend the second half of his life relaxing and moving abroad.[12]

On October 28, 2020, ELLY announced the birth of his first child together with the model and business woman MEGBABY.[13] The boy was born at the end of September and they had decided to wait for things to settle down before announcing it to fans.[14] At that point, the pair had been dating for about 8 years and their relationship was made public in March 2015 for the first time.[15][16] In the birth announcement, ELLY also revealed that the couple had no plans to get married and wanted to raise their child(ren) as partners rather than spouses.[17] On July 1, 2022, ELLY announced that he and MEGBABY had ended their partnership, and MEGBABY revealed that they had seperated in March 2022 and that their son was living with her.[18][19][20][21][22]

Health

On August 5, 2020, it was reported that ELLY was diagnosed with COVID-19. On August 1, after an appearance on the sports TV show Honoo no Taiikukai TV SP, ELLY measured his body's temperature and, as it exceeded the normal temperature, went to make a medical examination. On August 3, after returning to the normal temperature, he took a PCR test and was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the 5th. He revealed that he would currently not feel any symptoms but be carefully following the instructions of the public health center and experts for a healthy recovery. In addition, it was also revealed that the other 6 members of Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS would not be at risk because of ELLY.[23][24] On August 25, he announced on his social media accounts that he had recovered from COVID-19 and resumed his activities.[25]

On January 22, 2024, ELLY reported on SNS that he had developed a high fever exceeding 40 degrees and would visit a hospital.[26]

  • He was the first performer of EXILE TRIBE to start a solo career that includes using his vocals. He is credited as the one who broke down the barrier of performers working as solo artists and using their vocals, for example as rappers.[33]
