E-Dance Academy (Eダンスアカデミー) is an educational dance program created by EXILE and broadcasted by NHK Educational Television since 2013.[1]

The "E" in the program title is derived from the first letter of "ETV" and "EXILE".[2] The abbreviation of the title is "E-Aca" (Eアカ).

As subsequent programs, there are EX Dance Gymnastics (EXダンス体操) and E-Dance Academy Election (Eダンスアカデミー・選).

The members of EXILE TRIBE will act as instructors to give children a fun and easy-to-understand lecture on dance, which has become a compulsory subject in Japan's revised curriculum guidelines since 2011. The children in the program are elementary school students who are beginners in dance.[3][4] In addition to the dance lessons, there are also sections that focus on the children's characters and their growth process.

History[]

The pilot version of the program was broadcasted twice in August 2012.

From April 2013 to October of the same year, the first season included 24 broadcasts, but was rebroadcast as an encore in the same month.

Season 2 started in April 2014 and aired 24 times.

Season 3 began airing in April 2015 and aired year-round. [5]

Season 4 began airing in April 2016, Season 5 began airing in April 2017, and Season 6 began airing in April 2018.

Season 7 started airing in April 2019. TETSUYA temporarily suspended his appearance on the show as an instructor after the episode on May 31 in order to focus on treatment for bilateral patellar subluxation syndrome. He returned on the episode broadcast on October 4.[6] In the meantime, Komori Hayato from GENERATIONS had served as a substitute instructor since June.[7]

In April 2020, season 8 started, and season 9 started in 2021.
