It was released on January 1, 2020 in two editions: CD+DVD and CD only. First presses of both editions comes packed in a sleeve case.

The single was the first release of the LDH PERFECT YEAR 2020.

"Ai no Tame ni ~for love, for a child~" was used as theme song for EXILE PERFECT LIVE 2001▶︎2020 tour and was pre-released on December 11.^[1] "Shunkan Eternal" was used as theme song for Yofuku no Aoyama's Suit & Court Basketball TV CM and was pre-released on December 20.^[2]

As of March 2020, it is unknown if "Ai no Tame ni ~for love, for a child" will be included on EXILE's twelfth studio album.
