ARTLESS is the second solo studio album of Iwata Takanori. It was released on March 6, 2024 in three editions.[1][2][3][4]

The song "Just You and Me" was pre-released digitally on January 15, alongside its music video.[5][6] The album's promotional song, "Paradise", was pre-released digitally on February 12, alongside its music video.[7][8][9] The music video for the song "Virus" was pre-released on March 4, followed by the digital pre-release of the full album the next day, on March 5.[10]

Trivia[]

  • The CD cover features Iwata's own oil painting art.[2][4]
  • According to Iwata himself, the album is more focused on live performance compared to the previous album The Chocolate Box.[2][3][18][19]
  • Iwata participated in writing the lyrics for 9 of the 10 songs on the album.[19]
  • The album was released on Iwata's birthday.
  • Iwata came up with the title of the album after all the songs were completed.[20]
  • Iwata started working on the album in December 2022, right after his first solo tour Takanori Iwata LIVE TOUR 2022 "THE CHOCOLATE BOX".[20]
    • But by the time "Monokuro no Sekai" was released, all the songs of the album had already been mastered.[20]
  • Iwata decided to promote the new songs of the album by shooting videos for them.[20]
